Summary & Key Stats

Alberta just fired off its largest provincial draw of the year, and the spotlight fell on workers already building their lives in the province. In a busy week of selections (Aug 7–15),

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) invited 683 candidates across three rounds—headlined by 581 invitations through the Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS) on Aug 12.

Two smaller rounds targeted the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway (both Express Entry and non-Express Entry) to keep hospitals and clinics staffed.

QuestJobs currently lists 2,600 PR jobs under Alberta Rural Renewal Stream

Explore Other PR Options

To everyone who could not be eligible on the three PR Pathways mentioned above, you should explore other options of sponsorship for PR across the country. Canada has over 90 PR pathways, majority require a job offer. Twenty one of those PR Pathways could be found at QuestJobs portal. The jobs in the portal are researched, filtered and categorized as diligently as possible to ease the application and PR journey of all immigrants wanting to make Canada their forever home.

Why this matters

  • AOS momentum favors in-province workers. If you’re already in Alberta on a work permit with a permanent offer in an eligible occupation, AOS remains one of the most reliable routes to PR.

  • Healthcare continues to get bespoke attention. Running both Express Entry and base (non-EE) options lets AAIP capture qualified talent regardless of federal pool status.

How many nominations are left in 2025?

As of Aug 15, Alberta has issued 3,251 nominations out of its 4,875 federal allocation—so about 1,624 spots remain for the year.

Breakdown so far:

  • Alberta Opportunity Stream — Allocation 2,592 | Issued 1,776 | 816 left | 41,301 EOIs in the pool.

  • Dedicated Healthcare Pathway (EE + non-EE) — Allocation 500 | Issued 293 | 207 left | 1,689 EOIs in the pool.

Across all AAIP streams, there are 63,926 Expressions of Interest waiting—so every incremental point and every perfectly-prepared document matters.

Quick pathway refreshers

Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS)

Designed for temporary foreign workers already in Alberta with a full-time, permanent offer from an eligible employer. Selection is score-based; the latest minimum landed at 70 in the record draw.

Dedicated Healthcare Pathway

A job-offer-driven route to PR for eligible health occupations, offered in two flavors:

  • Express Entry option: nomination ties into your EE profile; IRCC’s federal processing follows.

  • Non-Express Entry option (base PNP): for candidates without EE eligibility; you apply for PR via the base provincial route after nomination.

What to do if you’re close

  • For AOS candidates: keep pay stubs, reference letters, and job-offer details current; ensure your occupation and duties match eligibility; renew status early.

  • For healthcare candidates: verify licensing/registration requirements, secure a formal job offer, and decide whether EE or non-EE is the cleaner route for you.

  • For everyone: small boosts matter—language scores, updated experience, or an accurate NOC alignment can be the difference between “in” and “almost.”
