What the Saskatchewan Agriculture Talent Pathway is

Saskatchewan’s Agriculture Talent Pathway (under International Skilled Worker) lets employers hire foreign talent for year-round, permanent jobs in agriculture and closely related industries. Candidates need a full-time, permanent job offer in one of the eligible NOC 2021 occupations and a Job Approval Letter (JAL) issued by the province for that exact position. Program rules also reference eligible industries by NAICS (primary agriculture, food manufacturing, and agricultural implement manufacturing). See the province’s official pathway page for the full overview and required documents. Government of Saskatchewan

Who can apply: eligibility snapshot

  • At least CLB/NCLC 4 in English or French (some employers/regulators may ask for higher).

  • Completed secondary school (high school) or higher.

  • Work experience: either one year full-time in the last three years in your intended occupation, or six months (780 hours) full-time with your sponsoring SK employer in the same role.

  • A permanent, full-time job offer in Saskatchewan plus a valid JAL for that offer.

  • Clear intent to live and work in Saskatchewan.
Details and step-by-step application are on the Government of Saskatchewan website

The Job Approval Letter (JAL): why it matters

You cannot apply to SINP under this pathway without a JAL. The employer must register with SINP, submit the job for assessment, and receive the Job Approval Letter showing your name, job title and NOC. The offer letter must include duties, wage/benefits, location, and be issued on company letterhead. You upload the JAL with your online SINP application

Application process (candidate view)

  1. Secure the job offer in one of the 10 eligible NOCs.

  2. Employer obtains the JAL from SINP for your position.

  3. Prepare documents: identity, education/trade certs, language test meeting CLB 4+ (where required), detailed reference letters, and any licensing if applicable.

  4. Apply online to SINP (create account, upload PDFs).

  5. If nominated, proceed to federal PR with IRCC.
The province lays out the process, required forms, and document rules on the pathway page.

Employer eligibility (what SK checks before sponsorship)

  • Active registration and compliance with wages & working conditions that meet Canadian standards for the occupation.

  • Correct NAICS classification for eligible industries where required (primary agriculture, food manufacturing, or ag-implement manufacturing).

  • Successful JAL issuance for the offered position and NOC.

2025 nomination allocation: what changed and why timing matters

The province confirms that Saskatchewan’s 2025 nomination allocation was cut by 50% by the federal government, and notes agriculture is among the priority sectors for the reduced slots. While no application is guaranteed a nomination, being inside an eligible NOC with a valid JAL is one of the strongest positions you can be in this year.

Backup plan, Francophone Mobility

If you are French-speaking (CLB/NCLC 5) and the Agriculture Talent Pathway temporarily closes or reaches its allocation, you may still be able to work in Saskatchewan via the Francophone Mobility work permit (LMIA-exempt code C16). Your employer submits the offer in the Employer Portal and pays the $230 compliance fee; you then apply for the employer-specific work permit. This can keep you working in Saskatchewan while you build a PR plan through SINP or Express Entry later on.

Where to find the jobs (curated for PR)

QuestJobs actively tracks Saskatchewan agriculture employers using this pathway and, as of today, lists 31 PR-eligible roles across the 10 NOCs above. Use the province, NOC, and PR-eligible filters to find postings that already align with SINP rules and JAL requirements—and set alerts so you’re first in line when new roles drop.
